About Us

The Kampala Design Podcast is a flagship media product of Biara Creative Studio, a design-led creative and product studio shaping conversations around UX, product development, tech, and creative work in Uganda and the broader African ecosystem.

Our podcast tells the stories of designers, innovators, and tech leaders — and we’re scaling into video production, events, and a wider educational platform. To support our growth, we are looking for a skilled Podcast Producer to take charge of production quality, scheduling, and the overall execution of every episode.

Role Overview

The Podcast Producer will be responsible for the end-to-end production of the Kampala Design Podcast — from pre-production planning to executing recordings, editing oversight, and ensuring smooth episode distribution across platforms.

You’ll work closely with the Host (Charles), the Content Manager, and the Biara Creative Studio team to ensure consistent, high-quality, engaging episodes across audio and video formats.

This is a hybrid role: most work is done remotely, but physical presence is required during podcast recordings, filming sessions, and occasional events.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full production workflow for each episode — planning, recording, editing oversight, publishing.

• Coordinate guest scheduling, confirmations, and pre-interview preparation.

• Set up and manage audio and video equipment during recordings.

• Ensure high-quality sound, video, lighting, and recording environment.

• Oversee editing (audio & video) and collaborate with editors or handle editing directly if skilled.

• Create production timelines and ensure episodes are released on schedule.

• Prepare episode briefs, run-of-show documents, and production checklists.

• Collaborate with the Content Manager to prepare promotional clips, thumbnails, and social versions.

• Manage the upload process to YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other platforms.

• Track performance and suggest improvements to production workflow.

Who We’re Looking For

• A highly organized, detail-oriented creative with experience in media production, podcasting, or video/audio editing.

• Strong understanding of microphones, cameras, lighting, and production workflows.

• Ability to work calmly under pressure and handle multiple moving parts.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to make guests feel comfortable and prepared.

• Comfortable being physically present during filming days.

• Experience with YouTube, podcast hosting platforms, and digital content is a plus.

• Bonus: Experience in storytelling, scriptwriting, or directing.
